Pre-Production/Tracking bass and drums

We’ve been in studio for a little more than week now and already it’s been such an awesome experience. We’re working with producer Tom Dobrzanski (http://www.monarchstudios.ca) which has definitely been a dream of ours since our early days as a high school folk quintet, after engaging our ears with the works of We Are The City, Said The Whale, and The Zolas (which Tom is a member of). The album is coming together piece by piece not only musically but conceptually as well. Album art, track listing, album title, additional instrumentation; all discussions we’ve been keeping on the back burner are now at the fore front of our minds and the vision/direction of this project is really coming into focus. Exciting times at Archers’ HQ.

For the last few days in studio we have also had photographer Brett Reid (https://www.facebook.com/BrettReidPhotography) come take some wicked photos (as seen bellow), he’s also working on some video for us that will be released closer to the album release so stay tuned for all that fun stuff.

Also like to thank you for all you’re support the last few months with voting for us in the CBC Searchlight Competition, and contributing to our album via IndieGoGo we are very pleased to have such supportive enthusiastic fans.

Much much love,

We’re reaching our half way mark for our fundraising campaign. We’ve reached a little more than quarter of what we’ve asked for on our IndieGoGo page. This stupendous! Thank you all who shared our link, purchased a perk, and have been supporting us this whole time through. We really do appreciate your support, it’s an incredible thing.

We’re in the middle of recording demos and finishing up the writing for the album. Some of the new songs are really coming together and we’re pretty pumped to show you guys hopefully you’ll like it. Just started planning/booking our summer tour to Montreal and back so that’s more things to be excited for, be sure to come say hello if we drive through your town! More on that as it unfolds.

So, here’s an update video on our campaign and a walk through of all the Perks you can purchase!

Nomination

We are have been very blessed to be nominated for Young Performer of the Year this year at the CFMA (Canadian Folk Music Awards). Words cannot describe how cool it feels to be even considered for something so established, and nation wide. It kinda feels like Christmas has come early… without the snow… except we’re in Victoria so it never snows on Christmas… maybe this year. Any who! Unfortunately the award ceremony is in New Brunswick this weekend and we do not have the funds to get there, but we wish to send our regards and luck to all the other nominees.

A quick update about what else has been happening in our lives, Sandy works at Aldo so we’re cashing in on all the discounted shoes! Brown leather for everyone! As well as last night we opened for Hey Ocean and The Belle Game in Parksville which was unreal! Such an awesome crowd and two highly talented, incredible bands that we both love and respect. Our next show coming up is at The Rio in Vancouver in 10 days, with our great friend Good For Grapes and our soon to be great friends Community Trees who are releasing their new CD that night. It’s gonna be exciting times for sure. AND, coming up in December we’ll be playing in the Jon and Roy Holiday Special show in Victoria with some truly unbelievable acts such as: Jon and Roy, Frazey Ford (Be Good Tanyas), Kim Churchill, and Wake Owl…. wicked line-up.

This last update you didn’t hear from us but, we may or may not be going into a studio in Vancouver to record our feature length album this February….

To sum it all up: we wish it snowed in Victoria, we are still poor musicians, Sandy works at Aldo, and we wish we could have fit a Lord of The Rings reference in here somewhere. That wraps it up!

Love you all from the deepest chasms of our glowing hearts

there and back again

Ten days ago we departed on our second Western Canadian tour. We arranged and booked most of it a little more than a month before hand, and were still looking for places to sleep and awaiting confirmation from venues even as we piled into the van and drove our crap load of gear to the ferry terminal. Just like the last time we hit the road somehow everything worked out better than ever expected. We have been incredibly blessed to know (and to have met) so many giving people who not only welcomed us into their homes but fed us, entertained us, and cared for us and asked for nothing in return. So a quick Thank you to the Kurdyak family who put us up in their home in Vancouver always too kind to us we don’t deserve it. The Pierce family for the accommodation in Vernon, we all miss the dog and the very needed hot tub sessions. The Jackson family and the members of Derrival for the cozy quarters in Fort Langley plus the really good nachos (hit the spot). A very special thanks to Bob’s aunts Kory and Michelle in Calgary for going above and beyond the call of duty and taking us in incredibly last minute and making sure we never went hungry.

It feels very bitter sweet knowing that we go home tomorrow. On the one hand we get to sleep in our own beds which is consistently the best thing ever, as well as we begin planning and demoing for a full length album which is uber exciting! It also means we won’t be on the road anymore, and just like last time we already miss it.

So from all of us from the bottom of our hearts, thanks for the support, couldn’t do this without any of you.

Party on party people.

Here we go, here we go, here we go again.

Wow! Our second tour which we planned in less than two months is here! Crazy! Just some friendly advice don’t wait to have no time before planning a tour, it’s stressful. Anywho! We’re going on tour again BC/Alberta and we’re leaving in a week! We’re just itching to get back on the road, see the friends we made last time around, and play music to people who we have never ever seen before… a crazy proposition in itself.

Here’s the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/122011624614584/

Hope you can all make it out! Thanks for being the best people ever.

With so much love

Woah! Where did August come from?

We’ve got two more months until our bands 2nd year anniversary, which is potentially the craziest thing ever. Back when Sandy and I started the band we never thought it would even last 6 months let a lone 2 years! It’s been a blessing for sure and we’re stoked to see what year 2 has in store for us! We are pleased to announce that this September we will be playing at Rifflandia 5, on Sunday the 16th at Royal Athletic Park on the Side Stage. It’s gonna be crazy good times! So many old and new friends are gonna be at Rifflandia this year and we are so excited to see and hear all of them! So hope your around in Victoria those days cause you’re not gonna wanna miss it.

In the midst of planning our 2nd tour across BC/Alberta/Saskatchewan. None of us have been farther east than Alberta so we’re excited to to see how flat Saskatchewan really is. We all miss being on the road so we’re looking forward to piling back into the van for another three week trek across our beautiful country.

Thanks so much for all your support over the last year and a bit. We couldn’t do this without all of you… you are the best people the world has ever seen (no doubts, total truth).

See you around!

The Archers, Ryan Guldemond (of Mother Mother), and Jon and Roy

We’re all thrilled about the coming weekend, we’ll be opening for Jon and Roy in Vancouver at the St. James Theatre, Friday June 22nd… And Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother will be the following act. Excitement ensues. Furthermore, we have the pleasure of revisiting Kelowna to play at the Streaming Cafe on Saturday the 23rd where we will perform, then receive a copy of our performance with recorded audio and visual… RAD.

Breaking out of Victoria in the small way that we’ve been doing has us excited, and opening for some local artists who we respect and love just bolsters that feeling. Thanks for the support everyone, and to those who read our blog.. an even larger thanks to you.

Sea Legs Tour "Victory"

Too much fun was had the last two weeks and we all agree we could have gone for another two. We really took to life on the road, but alas it is over and is now just a fond memory to relive when the time is appropriate. We met so many incredible people on this trip and so many generous people who opened up their homes for 7 unkept scraggly dudes traveling with a lot of stuff that also needed a place to be well we slept. So thank you to all who took us in, and all who offered it was very kind of all of you.

We’re heading back out in October it looks like as of now. Still a lot of planning to do but we’ll keep you posted. We’re all itching to get back on the road. On another note we’re playing with Jon and Roy and Ryan Guldemond (of Mother Mother) on June 22nd in Vancouver for Jon and Roy’s CD release! More info here: http://www.facebook.com/events/287141261379919/

Hope to see you all soon!

Thanks for listening

So much love
